P S Easa – Chairman, Dr Easa obtained a PhD in Zoology (Wildlife) from the University of Kerala having worked on the Asian Elephant in the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala. Having served as a Scientist at the Kerala Forest Research Institute for 26 years, he moved to the Wildlife Trust of India as Director (Wildlife Conservation). He is presently settled in his home town of Thrissur in Kerala, where he has founded an NGO by name ‘Asia Biodiversity Conservation Trust’. Dr Easa underwent training in wildlife conservation at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC and has traveled extensively in India and abroad, pursuing his scientific interest not only on Elephants and other mammalian species, but also on lesser organisms including fish, amphibians, reptiles and birds. He has to his credit 42 research reports, 41 research papers and 10 books.
N V Joshi - Trustee, Professor Joshi is at the Center for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Science in 1980 and was working at the Center for Theoretical Studies before joining the Center for Ecological Sciences in 1987. Professor Joshi's research interests are mainly in the application of mathematic modeling   and statistical analysis of life sciences. He has published more than 50 scientific publications covering diverse areas such as biophysics, meteorology, evolutionary biology and climate change. He has served as the chairman of the Center for Ecological Sciences and also of the National Center for Science Information at the Institute. Professor Joshi is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and has been a member of the editorial board of several journals (Journal of Biosciences, Current Science, Journal of the Indian Institute of Science) and is at present one of the Associate Editors of Current Science.
Jayshree Vencatesan – Managing Trustee, Dr Jayshree Vencatesan obtained a PhD in Biodiversity and Biotechnology from the University of Madras. She is a graduate and post-graduate in Home Science and Community Nutrition. She is an experienced social scientist having worked on issues of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecological restoration, with a special interest in urban wetlands. Dr Jayshree Vencatesan is the first Indian grantee of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute-Center for Tropical Studies short-term research fellowship. She was also awarded the prestigious Ramseshan Fellowship for science writing by the Indian Academy of Science. Having carried out field studies throughout India, she has to her credit 30 scientific publications and one book.
R J Ranjit Daniels – Managing Trustee, Dr Daniels obtained a PhD in Ecology from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is a graduate and post-graduate in Agriculture. He is a naturalist who began his career as an entomologist. Well known for his pioneering contribution to the community ecological and conservation research on the birds of the Western Ghats, Dr Daniels has also worked extensively on amphibians, fish and other vertebrates. He is widely traveled in India and abroad having studied tropical biodiversity in Panama, Bangladesh & the Northeast, Lakshadweep Islands and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He teaches biology at various universities and has authored 9 books. Amongst others, he has to his credit more than 40 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, including two in the prestigious PNAS.
C Arivazhagan – Conservation Biologist, Dr Arivazhagan obtained his PhD in Zoology from the Bharathidasan University. He is a graduate and post-graduate in Wildlife Biology. He started his career working on leopard-human conflicts in the Western Ghats. Working on the Asian Elephant in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Nagarhole National Park and Periyar Tiger Reserve for his doctoral dissertation he has gained extensive experience on human-animal conflicts that involve other wildlife as well. Dr Arivazhgan has traveled widely in India, in pursuit of elephants, and has to his credit 9 scientific papers and one book.
N Muthu Karthick – Plant Ecologist, Mr Karthick is post-graduate in Botany from the Madras Christian College, Chennai. He is a talented field taxonomist having worked on plants in and around Chennai, Madurai and Satyamangalam. As an undergraduate student of the American College (Madurai) Mr Karthick had traveled to the US on a Winter-term program. He has to his credit 3 scientific publications and one book.
S Muraleedaran – Office and Accounts Manager, Mr Muraleedaran is a graduate in Physics (University of Madras). He has had vast experience as a stenographer and company secretary having worked in Iraq, Nepal and Mumbai. He was Office Manager at the Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) Chennai before he joined Care Earth. Mr Muraleedaran is committed to animal welfare and amongst others, interested in yoga.
G Das – Technical Assistant, Mr Das hails from a family of farmers who cultivate in a small village in Kancheepuram district. He has completed his high school and is pursuing a graduate degree in social science. Having started a career as a community organizer in an international NGO in and around his village, Mr Das joined Care Earth in 2002 and has since worked on various socio-ecological issues. He is a very knowledgeable field person and capable of handling and rehabilitating birds and snakes.
